Verizon Hialeah Mural: “La Ciudad Que Progresa”
Painted by Miss Lushy, Roc Sol and Dennis Perez
The Project Roadmap mural team had the honor of producing a vibrant new mural for Verizon's retail store in Hialeah, located at 1599 W 49th St at the busiest intersection in the city. Lead artist Miss Lushy created the design alongside muralists Roc Sol and Dee Perez, crafting a piece that celebrates the message of "La Ciudad Que Progresa" — The City That Progresses. Blending family values, cultural traditions, and generational wisdom, the mural stands as a new landmark for the Hialeah community to enjoy for years to come.
The Hialeah mural is the third installation in Verizon's Project Love Letter initiative for South Florida, following murals in Wynwood and Coconut Grove. Unlike a standard commissioned piece, this mural was shaped directly by the voices of the community. Through surveys and input from local residents and Verizon employees, the team gathered a collective vision of how Hialeah wanted to see itself represented, the Project Roadmap mural team then brought that vision to life through the artistic collaboration of Miss Lushy, Roc Sol, and Dee Perez. The result is a mural that feels deeply personal to the neighborhood, reflecting Hialeah's past, present, and future in a way that only its own community could have defined.
The mural was celebrated by Verizon leadership, the City of Hialeah, and Mayor Esteban Bovo, who welcomed the installation to the neighborhood. It stands as a prime example of how brand activations through public art can transform a retail location into a genuine cultural landmark.
The Hialeah mural was also enhanced with an augmented reality experience powered by BrandXR using Snapchat's WebAR technology. When viewed through a smartphone, portraits of local residents and neighborhood cityscapes transformed into 3D visuals, celebrating Hialeah's rich cultural community and demonstrating how technology can deepen human connection. The AR activation was part of a three-location rollout across Miami alongside Verizon's Midtown and Coconut Grove murals, generating significant social media engagement and user-created content across all three locations.
Inside the Verizon Hialeah store, visitors can find Miss Lushy's artist bio framed on display, offering insight into the lead artist behind the mural and reinforcing Verizon's commitment to highlighting individual creative voices. The video recap for the Verizon Hialeah mural was scored by Miami Beat Wave, a Grammy Recording Academy member and multi-charting music producer, whose original composition added the perfect layer to enhance the story behind the artwork.
“As a local business invested in the communities in which we live, work, and play, it was important that these installations reflect the vibrant cultures of each neighborhood.”
“You may have recently noticed a new mural at the corner of West 16th Avenue and West 49th Street.
As the @cityofhialeah continues to welcome new businesses, the City Council and I are committed to promoting public art that celebrates and reflects our community. This stunning Verizon mural beautifully bridges past and future generations.
Thank you, @rocsolmiami, for your creative vision in bringing this mural to life and capturing the essence of Hialeah’s generations. #HialeahFirst”
