OTHERBLOCK: APE BASEL 2022 — THE FIRST BORED APE YACHT CLUB COMMUNITY ART AND MUSIC FESTIVAL IN MIAMI

Otherblock: Ape Basel was the first-ever Bored Ape Yacht Club community-led art, music, and food festival hosted in Miami during Art Basel 2022, a landmark collaboration between Miami's mural collective Project Roadmap and Los Angeles mural collective Space Dust. Co-created by Roc Sol, Swickie, Christine Olivera, and Peter Fang, Otherblock brought together Miami Apes and LA Apes for a one-of-a-kind cultural experience celebrating art, music, food, technology, and community in the heart of Wynwood.

The event was announced jointly by Swickie and Roc Sol and covered by the Bored Ape Gazette ahead of its debut, making it one of the most anticipated community-led BAYC events of Art Basel season. Tickets were distributed via Tokenproof, reflecting the team's commitment to keeping the experience authentic and community-first.

At the heart of the event, Project Roadmap and Space Dust artists painted one of the largest murals in Wynwood at Fun Dimension, a massive full-building large-scale mural featuring Bored Ape Yacht Club community members' NFTs brought to life through both art collectives. The mural featured the work of artists Roc Sol, Swickie, Vic the Viper, Ariel Coexist Creative, Dee Perez, and Albert Gonzalez, representing two coasts coming together through public art. BAYC founders Gordon Goner and CryptoGarga were among the mural sponsors, personally acknowledging the Otherblock team for uplifting the BAYC community and supporting independent artist-led initiatives.

Throughout the event, artists painted live in an immersive art atmosphere, creating 8x8 feet tall mobile murals featuring original work from Mira From Miami, Sera Stargirl, Swickie, Roc Sol, Kesoe, and Ariel Coexist Creative, giving guests an up-close look at the creative process in real time. The community also enjoyed everything Fun Dimension had to offer, including their game center, laser tag, and more, as they moved between the live mural painting, performances, and festival activations throughout the night.

The event featured live music performances by SpottieWiFi, Baron Davis, Roc Sol, and more, alongside immersive art experiences, breakdancing, a Bored and Hungry pop-up restaurant, Happy Dads beverages, and a vibrant celebration of Web3 culture at its most creative. Every element of the experience was designed around community IP owned by the artists and members themselves, with Bored Ape members highlighted and celebrated for their individual skills, talents, and contributions to the club.

Otherblock co-lead Swickie told the Bored Ape Gazette, a dedicated news source and media platform covering the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT community, that she was looking forward to bringing LA and Miami Apes together to celebrate the community they love.

"OtherBlock is a collab from LA to Miami between art collectives Project Roadmap and Space Dust to create a special experience for the BAYC and MAYC with community built-in. Our team curated activations like live painting murals, all utilizing IP owned by the artists or community members, live performances, as well as food and drink, all geared toward or by the BAYC family. We are grateful to have this opportunity to collaborate together and create a unique experience!" said Swickie.

Otherblock co-lead Roc Sol told the Bored Ape Gazette that it felt right to be bringing Apes together in Miami.

"Art Basel marks one year of being in the Web3 space for me. I knew I wanted to curate an experience to celebrate the impact this year has had on me as an artist but also bring the BAYC community together for an Art Basel experience in a unique way. When I connected with Swickie and Peter, I saw that by combining forces we were going to be able to create an amazing experience for the community that celebrates art, music, and BAYC. My journey started with Bored Apes and it felt right ending the year celebrating with them. We can't wait to see everyone at OtherBlock!" said Roc Sol.

Otherblock redefined what a Web3 art and music festival could be. It was a community-built experience where artists, collectors, musicians, and builders came together to create something truly unforgettable in the heart of Miami's Wynwood Arts District, and it remains one of the most celebrated independent BAYC community events ever produced. Bored Ape Yacht Club has always had a major presence at Art Basel and Otherblock was one of the most highlighted community-focused events that members were able to celebrate.
