THE APE WALL OF FAME
The Ape Wall of Fame is a large-scale NFT mural painted by Miami muralist Roc Sol and the Project Roadmap team, located at Modern Art Theory Gallery in the Allapattah neighborhood of Miami near Wynwood. Curated and designed by Roc Sol in 2021, the mural stands as a tribute to the Bored Ape Yacht Club and Mutant Ape Yacht Club communities which was the first community that introduced Roc Sol and his team to Web3 and showed them what a strong, supportive creative community looks like.
The mural features 16 Bored Ape and Mutant Ape members, each panel measuring 8 feet wide by 10 feet high, with Roc Sol's signature stained-glass patterned backgrounds behind every ape as a nod to his original artistic style and the relationships he built within the BAYC community from the very beginning. Featured community members include Happy Dad, Collie Buddz, Post Verrone, JustMaiko, and multiple Miami Apes, among others.
The Ape Wall of Fame was a community-funded collaboration, made possible by BAYC and MAYC members who wanted to support independent local artists and celebrate the culture they helped build. Roc Sol began painting the bored ape mural on December 8th, 2021 and completed it on January 8th, 2022, finishing the large-scale installation in exactly one month.
As an added bonus for visitors, the mural is also a Pokemon Go PokeStop, giving Pokemon enthusiasts another reason to stop and experience the wall up close.
The Ape Wall of Fame was celebrated in style at a special mural unveiling event curated by Roc Sol at the venue. The block party featured a Bored Ape art gallery alongside food, music, breakdancing, and art in a vibrant, community-driven atmosphere. Every guest in attendance received a complimentary framed art print of the mural, personally signed by Roc Sol and the Project Roadmap team who contributed to its creation. It was a true celebration of art, community, and creativity that left a lasting impression on everyone who attended.
The bored ape mural has continued to be celebrated by the BAYC community long after its completion. The Mutant Cartel returned to the venue for the MAYC 2nd Anniversary celebration event, "Fuck It Saturday," hosted in Miami, where Roc Sol and the Project Roadmap mural team produced 8 freestanding mural walls for the event, cementing the wall and the team as a landmark part of the Web3 community in South Florida. In a further testament to the mural's impact, BAYC founders Gordon Goner and CryptoGarga acknowledged the Ape Wall of Fame on Episode 8 of The Fucking Metaverse Podcast during their interview with Timbaland and Zayd Portillo.
Roc Sol is one of Miami's most established Web3 muralists and co-founder of Otherblock, the first-ever BAYC community art and music festival produced in Miami and Los Angeles. His Web3 mural portfolio spans some of the most recognized communities in the space including Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Quirkies, Cool Cats, Degen Toonz, VeeFriends, World of Women, Sappy Seals, Apechain projects, and more.
